Overview
Middle East driving the growth for multi billion dollar Turbo Machinery & pumps industry
With strong demand for upstream oil and gas projects, power generation, and desalination, key markets in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait are driving growth for the multi-billion dollar turbo Machinery & pumps industry, despite setbacks in other regions due to the worldwide slowdown. Multinational companies have established a major field office presence in some of these markets as they see that proximity certainly pays dividends in this increasingly cost-driven industry. Turbo machinery & pump providers that have not traditionally been associated with the oil and gas industry are going out of their way to get a piece of the regional market’s growth potential.
Middle Eastern and North African oil producing countries will invest $525 billion on energy projects from next year to 2016. Nations such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iran and Algeria have increased spending on energy projects for the next five years as current high oil prices are allowing them to resume projects that were delayed because of to the financial crisis, the Arab Petroleum Investments Corp said. Saudi Arabia will top the list with committed investments of $141 billion, followed by the UAE that is planning to invest $76 billion in that period, according to Apicorp.
Countries in the region can finance the projects on their own as long as the basket of OPEC crudes stays at more than $90 a barrel, it said. Against this backdrop the demand for Turbo machinery ,Pumps, Seals & related products in the chain will increase manifold.
The Turbo Machinery , pump and valve manufacturers and service providers are snuggling up to their lucrative Middle East customer base.
Energy and propulsion are much needed systems in the world for most modern human activities and social development for a sustainable society. Turbo machines produce more than 90% of all electricity in the world, drive the majority of aircrafts and are used extensively as compressors, pumps, etc. in many modern applications (e.g. refrigerators, ventilators, etc). the aggressive pursuit of energy conservation through the introduction of high efficiency devices on the demand side, as well as power generation from renewable energy sources, will become key pillars in combating global warming going forward. Cooling and heating demand to support our everyday lives and industrial activities is the greatest source of energy consumption. Turbo Machines, Pumps /Heat pumps should play an extremely important role in meeting cooling and heating demand as they are capable of substantially reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions
Regardless of the continuous technological and scientific advancements, the discovery and recovery of oil and gas is still complex and challenging. There are always new emerging issues that defy a smooth production process of oil and gas; these issues pertain to various sectors of the industry, one of which is the facilities and surface assets used for Electricity & Power projects. There are constant need for new materials, innovating existing products or modifying and developing technologies or processes in order to sustain the working life of the industry assets and production to more than 20 years.
The event will be attended by rotating-machinery specialists, user companies in the region, and multinational Turbo machinery OEMs. The METMPE CONFERENCE will emphasize operation and maintenance issues versus design and theory. Lectures will be from noted turbo machinery & Pump leaders. The METMPE conference programme is developed with end-users in mind, particularly from oil and gas, petrochemicals, and municipalities (power generation and water).
The METMPE Conference programme and exhibits will cover compressors, steam and gas turbines, expanders, pumps and drivers; including motors. It will also include auxiliary equipment such as couplings, bearings, gear boxes, dry gas seals, annular seals, heat pumps etc.
METMPE -2012 themed as SOLUTIONS FOR LOW CARBON WORLD will look forward to finding a better way to further promote the use and improvements of Turbo machinery,Pumps, heat pumps through a variety of discussions, which are a core technology in reducing CO2 emissions, from a variety of perspectives including technology, development, policies, and marketing.
